Seeing the trailer for The Last Federation filled me with excitement. Seeing a diverse space world of nations going at it, while not new, seemed refreshing based on the gameplay. However I feel I may have hyped myself up too much for this.

Violence of the lambs… I’m sure that pun has already been mentioned, but it’s not too far off what occurs in Team 17’s Flockers. After being used by the Worms in their own games for various degrees of destructive warfare since the series’ creation in 1995, it seems the sheep have finally had enough and are attempting to break out en masse out of a Worm Sheep Processing Plant (Unofficial title) full of exposed giant buzz saws and crushing weights to the green pastures of freedom.

DuckTales was a firm cartoon favourite of mine back in the late eighties and the DuckTales NES game was one of the most played games in my youth. Scrooge McDuck’s treasure hunt prepared me for games were going to become in the future.

For the upcoming LEGO Lord of The Rings game on many formats, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has been generous enough to give us this trailer, showing us the non-serious aspects of the LEGO series that makes these games so unique. Probably available in not many places at the moment, this is (possibly) a Derek-Wheatley.com exclusive.

Review – Thomas Was Alone [PC]

Posted: July 5, 2012 in PC, Reviews

This is my first indie game review, so be gentle if I have missed any points of the indie culture which those more experienced in may have recognised where I have not. Thomas Was Alone is a game I have been watching the progress of since I first saw creator Mike Bithell at a previous GameCityNights event, the trailer intrigued me. Like a movie trailer it made me think “What’s going on here? I really want to know more.” But unlike the promises I always make to myself regarding seeing future movie releases – I actually invested in Thomas. And I’m glad I did.
