Here is a review I managed to cobble together for the delightful website N-Europe. Apologies for the quality of the screens, there aren’t many about it seems.

Review: Belladonna

Belladonna advertises itself as a game about reanimated corpses and morality. Whilst the former is undeniable, the latter is something which one can take with a pinch of salt in its interpretation. I’ll come back to this bit later…

The ravens on mighty Odinn’s shoulders sit,
At daybreak to Midgardr they depart,
To eye all tidings of men they’ll there see,
Hugin and Munin, night after night

It’s hard to use the opening paragraph for a review to entice you when it’s a poem. Just click the link, it’s really good writing. Honest.

The first thing you may think when playing Super Win the Game is “pure plagiarism.” The sprites seem pulled from the source game – they have been subtly altered so they aren’t sprite copies, but the inspiration is obvious. Super Win borrows environments and elements from several well-known games.

With the taste of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World still lingering at the back of my mouth, it was with trepidation that I started playing the sequel to the delightful Tales of Xillia. Thankfully it doesn’t make the same mistakes of Dawn of the New World. It has a few new ones though.

Very few games make me feel annoyed to the point of explosion. Only If managed to affect me in such a manner in the 90 minutes it took me to complete the game, and I’m not even sure if that includes the several times I restarted the game due to an unknown bug.

It had to be done really, I couldn’t review just one half of the game without considering the latter portion, it just wouldn’t be professional. Plus I’d pretty much forgotten everything about the game so had to refresh my memory. I feel I owed it to myself considering how much money I spent on this…

This is a game which I hope many of you have already played. However those who weren’t around for the GameCube era, didn’t have a GameCube or simply didn’t care back then, this may be for you. Tales of Symphonia Chronicles is a game which has been rereleased along with the sequel Dawn of the New World, which I’ll probably get round to reviewing at some point in the future…

There is an element of uncertainty with regards to what is considered to be a step forward for the RPG genre, as it feels to me that every angle has been tried. What seems to be needed in order to stand out is either to be a part of an established series, such as the Final Fantasy or the Tales franchises, or have an already established hook, such as Kingdom Hearts that went down the Disney route. Bravely Default however, has neither of these, yet it still manages to stand out rather spectacularly…

Ever wanted to own a farm? Don’t lie, of course you have. The only downside is that it’s a lot of work. Luckily the famous Harvest Moon series has been with us since 1996 and can give us a sense of the experience for a fraction of the work.
